چکیده

The endangered epiphytic orchid, Dendrobium chrysotoxum, is known for its ornamental and medicinal uses. However, knowledge of this orchid’s symbiotic seed germination, protocorm anatomy, developmental morphology completely unknown. In study, we investigated the process development D. chrysotoxum during germination using anatomical technologies scanning electron microscopy. There are six stages that were morphologically anatomically defined germination. embryo transformed into a at stage two, protrusion developed from top three elongated to form cotyledon four. stem apical meristem (SAM) was initiated well first leaf root appeared five six, respectively. hyphae entered through micropylar end one then invaded rhizoids when formed. Invading fungal colonized inner cortex base protocorms, formed pelotons, digested by host cells later. We conclude programmed embryo, which determines structure function protocorm. two zones in polarized include smaller zone, forms shoot end, larger mycorrhiza house symbiont basal end. These results will provide important insights further research on mechanisms underlying orchid-fungi symbiosis enhance understanding orchid evolution.

In vitro asymbiotic germination of immature seed and formation of protocorm by Cephalanthera falcata (Orchidaceae).

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Many Orchidaceous species are threatened globally by development and over-collection from their natural habitats for horticultural purposes. Artificial propagation from seeds is difficult in most terrestrial orchids native to temperate regions. Seed production is another limiting factor in the artificial propagation for these species because of the lessened probability of po...

Symbiotic seed germination and evidence for in vitro mycobiont specificity in Spiranthese brevilabris

Orchid–mycobiont specificity in the Orchidaceae was considered controversial and not well understood for many years. Differences in mycobiont specificity during germination in vitro vs in situ have lead some to consider orchid–mycobiont specificity as being generally low; however, others have suggested that specificity, especially in vitro, is surprisingly high. Mycobiont specificity may be gen...

Effect of Banana Extract on Growth and Development of Protocorm Like Bodies in Dendrobium sp. orchid

An experiment was carried out in Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Department of Crop Botany, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh to investigate the effect of banana extract on micropropagation of Dendrobium sp. var. Sonia orchid through PLBs. The experiment was conducted during July 2012 to October 2013. Half-Murashige and Skoog (1/2MS) medium were used as basal medium and the medium...

ESTs Analysis Reveals Putative Genes Involved in Symbiotic Seed Germination in Dendrobium officinale

Dendrobiumofficinale (Orchidaceae) is one of the world's most endangered plants with great medicinal value. In nature, D. officinale seeds must establish symbiotic relationships with fungi to germinate. However, the molecular events involved in the interaction between fungus and plant during this process are poorly understood. To isolate the genes involved in symbiotic germination, a suppressio...

In Vitro Propagation of Dendrobium chrysotoxum (Lindl.)

In vitro asymbiotic seed germination of Dendrobium chrysotoxum varied with fruit harvesting time and culture medium used for germinating seeds. Seeds at different developmental stages were harvested and cultured on five asymbiotic orchid seed germination media i.e. defined and undefined media, namely 1⁄2 MS, KC, M, MS and PDA. Seeds harvested 220 days after pollination showed maximum germinatio...
